City Deal: the money needs to be now

Now that all parties have accepted the principle of an Aberdeen City Deal, they need to put their money in the table and get on with it, says North East Labour MSP Lewis Macdonald.

Responding to news that the Scotto’s and UK governments have agreed joint funding of the Aberdeen City Region Deal Lewis Macdonald said today:

“Everyone now appears to recognise the urgency needed to bring forward this investment.

”What we need now is for both governments to commit funding immediately in order to make this happen.

"The Scottish Budget for 2016/17 does not currently include any provision for the Aberdeen City Deal under either transport, environmental protection or water.

"All of these are critical to the plans which were part of the City Deal bid.

“The councils and private sector, have committed to putting money on the table, now we need the Scottish Government and the Treasury to do the same.”
